7th to 8th Registration
7th to 8th Grade Course Registration
March 19, 2026
Dear 7th Grade Parent/Guardian,
We are beginning the scheduling and registration process for the 2026-2027 school year. Students will automatically be enrolled in courses like Science, Social Studies, English, etc., for next year. However, we need your input regarding your child’s Math course selection and Grey Block preferences as we schedule for next year. Please read on to complete this process.
The two steps that all parents/guardians need to complete on the Parent Portal are below. Please follow the Steps to Complete Course Registration on the Parent Portal page as you complete the required pages on the Parent Portal.
- Confirm Math Placement on the Parent Portal by March 27: View the math recommendation that your child’s 7th grade Math teacher has made for next year, located in the Parent Portal. If you choose to override the teacher’s recommendation on the Parent Portal, please reach out to your child’s math teacher about the placement recommendation. See our Frequently Asked Questions and our Math Success Indicators for additional information.
- Make a Grey Block Selection:
- Full-Year Music Elective (Band, Chorus, or String Orchestra): Students are guaranteed a spot in their selected program.
- Elective Rotation: Students will take a mix of electives, including one-quarter of Phys Ed. The full list of Grey Block electives is available here. Preferences will be considered, but specific elective requests cannot be changed.
One step that some parents/guardians may choose to complete:
- While we are not able to accept team placement requests from families, we understand that, at times, there may be information worth considering prior to us creating 8th grade teams this spring. If that applies to your student, you may complete the online Family Information Form. The deadline for submitting this form is Friday, March 27.
A note about other courses:
World Language: Students in Novice I French or Spanish will automatically continue to Novice II of their chosen language.
Exploratory, Phys Ed, and Health: Students will be enrolled in four Exploratory classes (Art, Digital Literacy, Drama, and Engineering) unless their schedule requires a different service during that period. Students will be automatically enrolled in a rotation of Phys Ed and Health classes.
Additional Services: Families of students in ASC, Reading, or Math Explorations will receive placement details directly from their teachers. IEP services will be scheduled later in the spring.
If you have questions about course registration, please contact your child’s counselor: Ms. Eagle (7 Blue / 7 Green) or Mr. Duclos (7 Gold / 7 Red).
Thank you for ensuring your child’s registration is completed by March 27, 2026.
Sincerely,
Jim Marcotte
Principal
