Good afternoon, RJ Grey Families:

I've had opportunities this week to observe some great classes and experiences. On Wednesday, I participated as one of a few "Sharks" in a Shark Tank simulation for one of our Grey Block classes. Students in 8th grade Digital Lab created inventions or innovations and presented their products to a group of guest "Sharks," who asked follow-up questions and ultimately decided if we'd support the innovative product. The students displayed a good sense of creativity, follow-through, and provided thoughtful responses as they were quizzed about their products. Yesterday, I got the chance to observe several Social Studies classes. One discussion focused on how "power" should be used, while another class focused on providing evidence to back up a claim. While my job includes myriad tasks, including lunch duty, traffic duty, and other "supervisory" roles, I feel privileged to get to observe highly talented educators interact with your children on a daily basis. I hope your child is sharing some of the things they're learning or creating with you at home.

All Acton-Boxborough residents, educators, families, and students are invited to take our reorganization survey. Before completing the survey, it is recommended that you review the organizational materials on the AB Forward webpage. The survey (link here) will be available until November 9th.

As a reminder, the dates and times for Winter athletics tryouts are posted on our website. Please take note of the work that needs to be done ahead of time (proof of physical exam, Family ID sign-up). We are actively recruiting a coach for our Cheer team. If you know someone who would be interested in this, please have them be in touch with our RJ Grey Athletic Director, Jon Duclos (jduclos@abschools.org). The program may not run if we don't have an adult coach for this team.

If your kids celebrate Halloween tonight, I hope they have a safe and fun night!

Have a good weekend,
Jim
