Good afternoon, RJ Grey Families:
When I was a kid, it was not uncommon to hear my mom say to my sisters and me, "Just give me 15 minutes to pick up the house - if we all do it, we'll be done quickly!" I sometimes drop that line with my own kids now. Their groans are the same as mine when I was a kid. On Tuesday, we had our own version of "just give us 15 minutes!" As part of our Advisory program, each small group signed up to do something to help improve our school. Several groups headed to Leary Field to pick up the random wrappers and other items that get left behind after sporting events, some groups washed the windows of the trophy case, my group removed some dead branches and weeds from our courtyards, and others helped teachers in their classrooms do some sprucing up. Over the announcements the next morning, I thanked the students and staff for their 15 minutes of time and reminded them about the importance of sharing a community and a building. When we all contribute to the care of our school, we are better off! I encourage you to ask your child what their Advisory project was this week.
If your child hasn't yet returned their permission slip to Mel's Funway or Canobie Lake Park, please remind them to do so tomorrow! The forms were due earlier this week, and we're now paying particular attention to those stragglers who haven't yet turned in their forms. Our task now is to make bus assignments and final details for the trips on June 11 and 12. Thanks for helping us to close out this process tomorrow!
