Athletics at RJ Grey JHS

JHS Cheerleading

Tryout Schedules:

UPDATE: All JHS tryouts scheduled for Thursday, 9/6 have been canceled due to excessive heat. We will try again tomorrow, Friday, 9/7.

Cross Country (Co-ed)

  • The first meeting is Tuesday, 9/11 at 2:45 PM in the RJ Grey auditorium. 
  • The Cross Country Team does not have cuts. Practice starts on 9/12, and are held Monday through Friday starting at 2:40 PM.

Girls Field Hockey

  • 8th Graders: Tryouts will be held on Thursday 9/6, Friday 9/7, and Tuesday 9/11 from 2:55 - 4:10 PM. We will meet in the gym lobby.
  • 7th Graders: Tryouts will be held on Friday 9/7 3:15-4:15. We will meet in the gym lobby. Please wear rubber cleats or sneakers, shin guards, mouth guard, field hockey approved goggles and have a field hockey stick. Wear athletic clothing and bring water.

Boys Soccer

  • ​Boys Soccer Tryouts have been extended through 9/12, 3 - 4:30 PM. 
  • Tryouts will be held on Thursday 9/6, Friday 9/7, and Tuesday 9/11 from 3:00 - 4:30 PM. We will meet in the gym lobby.

Girls Soccer

  • Tryouts will be held on Thursday 9/6, Friday 9/7, and Tuesday 9/11 from 2:50 - 4:15 PM. We will meet in the gym lobby.

Introduction to Registration:

This year we will be participating in an online signup for our athletic teams using a site called "FamilyID". This process is taking the place of the paper "Green Forms" that were required in prior years.

Registration is a two-step process that must be completed before you can participate.

  1. Register using our online process (see below for detailed instructions).
  2. Turn in your physical to the JHS Health Office.

Online Registration Process:

  1. Registration for a sport will begin several weeks prior to the start of the season. You will need your child's Student ID to register, as this will connect our school's information system with FamilyID. Their Student ID can be found in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
  2. Click here: AB's FamilyID Website
  3. Towards the bottom of that page, Look for a blue heading labeled "PROGRAMS". Click on the link for the upcoming season.
  4. Read the information, and then click on the green "REGISTER NOW" button. If this is your first time using FamilyID, click "CREATE ACCOUNT". If you already have a FamilyID account, proceed to Step 7 below.
  5. Create your secure FamilyID account by entering the account owner First and Last names (parent/guardian), email address and desired password. Select "I Agree to the FamilyID Terms of Service". Click "CREATE ACCOUNT".
  6. You will receive an email with a link to activate your new account. (If you don’t see the email, check your E-mail filters (spam, junk, etc.). Click on the link in your activation email, which will log you into FamilyID.com. Proceed to Step 8 below.
  7. If you already have a FamilyID account, click "LOG IN". (If you are already logged in from a prior session, you may not need to log-in again and will proceed to the next step automatically).
  8. Once in the registration form, complete the information requested. When selecting the desired team, please be sure to select the team labeled "Junior High". All fields with a red* are required to have an answer. Click the "CONTINUE" button when your form is complete. Review your registration summary.

Payment of Registration Fees:

If your student is selected to join a team, you will receive an invoice via email. You can pay that invoice online via "efunds" by following a link in the emailed invoice. Alternatively, you can send a check to the coach for the athletic fee.

Athletic Forms:

  • "Green Form" (Athletic Physical Form) - we are no longer using "Green Forms". Please see the online registration process detailed above.
  • Request for Waiver of Athletic Fee - Download this form by clicking here if you would like to request that the athletic fee associated with participation on a school-sponsored team be waived due to financial hardship or having reached the "family cap". Please follow the instructions on the form as the procedure has changed from previous years. This year, the athletic fee is $250 per season, with a family cap of $1000 for the year (High School hockey has an additional fee separate from what was just listed). In order to apply for the family cap, please complete the request for waiver listed above.
  • Sports Pick-up Form - Click here for a Parent Permission Form to print, fill out, and return to school for approval. This form is required if you would like to pick up your student from an Away game.
