I hope you are doing well. Last Friday, we held a great March Madness event after school. Lots of teams played 5-minute basketball games. The over-inflated basketball made it harder to dribble and shoot than in the average game. Lots of our really talented players had a steep learning curve. Our referees chose one team that showed great sportsmanship throughout their games to play the final game against our staff team. These volunteer staff members gave it their best, but the younger legs and speed of the junior high team led to a student win! The Play of the Day, however, happened when Mr. Zhang confidently proceeded down the court for a lay-up. Check out the video if you'd like to see a rare occurrence in basketball. If you watch til the end, you'll see 8th grader Ian Song save the day!
As a reminder to 8th grade families, the Parent Portal is currently open for you to select 9th grade courses. Please follow the instructions sent by the high school about how to complete this process. If you are interested in knowing more about any of the Arts electives at the high school, please check out this resource created by Visual and Performing Arts department.
Next week, I'll send info for 7th grade families about registering for 8th grade courses. Students will select their math level for 8th grade and will give preferences for their Grey Block classes. Be on the lookout for that info next week.
I hope you have a nice weekend!
Jim
